Join Our Team
We are a small charity with big ambitions. The right volunteer at the right time can transform what we are able to achieve. No experience necessary - just a willingness to help.
Our Fundraising Activities
We have an exciting calendar of fundraising events planned for our first year - all rooted in Brian's extraordinary story and designed to raise both funds and awareness. Here is what is coming.
Signature Events
The Tinto Hill Climb
"Back on My Feet"
When Brian was in ICU, friends climbed Tinto Hill and raised thousands. This time, he leads the climb himself - a powerful symbol of recovery. Open to all.
The 84-Day Challenge
84 days in ICU. Now it's your challenge.
Commit to doing something for 84 consecutive days - walking, planking, giving up alcohol, learning something new. Share your progress with #84DayChallenge.
The 5-Minute Plank Challenge
Brian can hold a 5-minute plank. Can you?
From a 4-week coma to a 5-minute plank. Film your attempt, donate, and tag 3 friends. Simple, shareable, and the story behind it speaks for itself.
Community & Awareness
"Learning to Walk Again" Walk
Hairmyres to GRI - 12 miles on foot
A sponsored walk retracing the journey Brian made by ambulance - this time on his own feet, surrounded by supporters. Family-friendly and open to all.
"I Didn't Know" Campaign
What does the pancreas do? Almost nobody knows.
Street interviews across Scotland asking one simple question - then sharing the facts. Educational, shareable, and proof this charity needs to exist.
Pancreas Awareness Quiz Night
How much do you know about your own body?
Pub quiz format with a health twist. General knowledge rounds, a pancreatitis myth-or-fact bonus, raffle prizes, and Brian shares his story between rounds.
More Activities Planned
Blood Donation Drive
Brian received over 100 units of blood. We are partnering with SNBTS to help replenish the supply.
Corporate Plank-a-Thon
Getting Scotland's workplaces planking for pancreatitis - team building that raises funds and awareness.
Tennis Tournament
Brian's back on the court. A charity doubles tournament - from ICU to the tennis court.
Christmas Giving Campaign
"Give the gift of awareness" - donate what you would spend on one Christmas present.
Virtual "Miles for the Pancreas"
Walk, run, or cycle - collectively cover the length of Scotland. Every mile counts.
GRI Staff Thank You Dinner
A celebration of the people who saved Brian's life - dinner, speeches, and a ceilidh.
